Under the Blood Red Sun
Mr. Tim Savage is a director and film maker who works along with his wife Mrs. Mardi Savage; The associate producer. The work of a director is to control a film's artistic aspects and visuals. He also takes care of the screenplay while also guiding the technical crew and actors in the fulfillment of the films vision. The director has a key role in choosing the cast members and carrying out production design.
An associate producer (AP) assists the producer in putting the TV program or film together. The AP's jobs may include writing, editing, organizing scripts or helping the editor by making beat calls.
Without the Savages, the film would not have been able to come to fruition. The work that they do as filmmakers contributes many things to filmmaking, including conveying stories that otherwise might not reach the screen.
Under the Blood Red Sun is a story of friendship and survival. Tomi Nakaji is a thirteen year old Japanese boy living on the island of Oahu. When the Japanese kamikaze jets fly in and bomb pearl harbor his life changes forever. Tomi's father, a fisherman is arrested and brought to an interment camp. Tomi's haole friend Billy Davis also lives through this catastrophe with him and they help eachother get through it. Tomi has to essentially become the man of the family, while facing racism and his paradise's destruction.
The first question I asked was; "was it hard to make the film accurately represent the book in the amount of viewing time had the film allotted?" The answer I got was that, yes. It was very tough, as the director didn't want to mis-convey the message of the story. He said that the author of the book actually worked on the screenplay so they had his blessing on what they wanted to do relating to creative vision. The director and his team worked pleasantly with the author.
